CachyOS Desktop Edition and NixOS 25.05
CachyOS Desktop Edition
64-bit
In recent months, CachyOS has emerged as one of the most popular Arch Linux derivatives. Like many Arch derivatives, CachyOS features an easy-to-use installer. In addition, it features several behind-the-scenes enhancements such as a custom kernel, optimized packages, a custom CPU scheduler, and its own hardware detection tool that automatically installs required packages and their dependencies. Although CachyOS defaults to KDE Plasma, it supports many desktop environments. Its default applications are minimized, ensuring that users know exactly what is installed. CachyOS's web page describes it as ideal "whether you're a seasoned Linux user or just starting out."
The 250422 ISO edition included on this month's DVD features few new features, aside from a tool that can use the .iso image as an isolated stress environment. However, it corrects many bugs from earlier monthly snapshots, making it a useful introduction to both CachyOS and its Arch Linux parent.
