Getting the best performance from solid state drives on Linux
Conclusions
Solid state drives should be part of any computer today. An SSD goes about its work silently, reliably, and in an energy-saving manner. Anyone who has had the pleasure of sitting at a computer with an SSD and not having to wait for more than a blink of an eye – even with large programs such as LibreOffice – will certainly not want to miss out on using an SSD in the future.
Although much tedious configuration might have been necessary a few years ago to set up an SSD on Linux, today you do not have to worry. State-of-art Linux distributions are well integrated with SSDs. You only need to intervene if you want to squeeze out the last bit of performance.
