AMD Releases Developer Documention for R600 and R700 Cards
Recall that AMD published the basic system information for the chip sets R600 and R700 last year. To follow up this info, we now have the first info and code for the OpenGl Acceleration.
The radeonhd’s 3D support for the series Radeon HD 2000, 3000, and 4000 is already in good condition, so a useable Open Source 3D-support can be expected shortly. AMD has also released a PDF document which is intended to clarify the development for the newest chip sets R600 and R700, as Phoronix.com announced.
The forty-page comprehensive PDF document with the title „Radeon R6xx/R7xx Acceleration“ delivers a fundamental overview of the ASIC-architecture and also contains a twenty-page programmer piece. The documentation can only be found on the webserver of the X.org Project for the time being, but should also be available on the AMD site at a later date.
