Announced Today - Attachmate Corporation To Acquire Novell
Novell, corporate sponsors of the openSUSE and producers of SUSE Enterprise Linux, announced their acquisition decision today.
In a press release this morning, Novell, announced that Attachmate Corporation would acquire Novell for approximately $2.2 billion. In the same press release Novell announced "the concurrent sale of certain intellectual property assets to CPTN Holdings LLC, a consortium of technology companies organized by Microsoft Corporation, for $450 million" which is included in the acquisition amount to be paid by Attachmate Corporation.
According to the press release, Attachmate Corporation plans for Novell are to operate Novell and SUSE as two separate business units. Attachmate Corporation holdings would then include Novell, SUSE, Attachmate and NetIQ.
