Debconf 8 Scheduled for August 2008 in Argentina
The international Debian Developer Conference 2008 will be held in the Argentine cirty of Mar del Plata August 2 through 17.
Margarita Manterola announced the final schedule on various Debian mailing lists. The conference proper with lectures and discussions will take place between August 10 and 16, with Debcamp before and after. Accommodation and the network will be available at this time, and individual developer groups will be able to use the infrastructure for meetings and teamwork.
After the conference, the free software project will again be welcoming the general public on Debian Day. The event will take place August 18 in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires.
Registration for the event will start late in 2007; more details are available on the Debconf website at http://debconf8.debconf.org. The location, Mar del Plata, 400 kilometers from the capital, is a popular seaside resort. But before you Debian fans out there start packing your bathing costumes, be warned: Mar del Plata is in the southern hemisphere, so Debconf 8 will be in the middle of winter – the organizers recommend warm and waterproof clothes!
