Freoffice: Free Office Viewer for N900
Nokia has released an alpha version of a new office viewer for the N900 smartphone. The software named Freoffice, installable under Maemo, is based on KOffice project code.
The viewer can open multiple documents simultaneously, page, scroll and search through them, and cut-and-paste from among them. KDE developer Jos van den Oever gives an overview in his blog on how to install the Maemo package on version PR1.1 of the N900 platform.
The program is licensed under GPLv2 and the source code is available in the KOffice project's SVN repository. Freoffice should benefit from the progress made in the KOffice KDE office suite, now approaching version 2.2.
