If you're a fan of KDE Plasma, you'll be thrilled to hear they've announced a new Slimbook with an AMD CPU and the latest version of KDE Plasma desktop.
KDE wants to stand up to the likes of Windows and hopes to become a veritable David to their Goliath with the new Slimbook V, which will be the first laptop to officially ship with the Plasma 6 desktop.
The specs for the Slimbook V are impressive with an AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS Zen 4 processor (8 cores and 16 threads); a Radeon 780M GPU(12 GPU cores and 2700 MHz frequency); 16" IPS LED display with 2560 X 1600 resolution at 165 Hz, sRGB 100% and 403 nits max brightness; up to 8 TB of internal storage (NVME PCIE 4.0, up to 64 GB of 5600 MHz non-soldiered memory, a 720p webcam (with a physical on/off switch); a 68-watt-hour batter; and weighing in at only 1.86 kg (4.1 pounds).
The Slimbook V has a full aluminum case. On one side of that case you'll find 2 USB 3.1 ports and the other side sports 2 USB-C ports, 1 HDMI port, and 1 USB 3.1 port.
The base model ships with 16 GB of DDR5 RAM, 250 GB NVMe internal storage, and ships with the KDE Neon OS. The cost of the base model is 999.00 € (roughly $1083.00) and shipments should arrive sometime in April.
