Novell Acquires Datacenter Experts Platespin
Novell today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire PlateSpin Ltd. The purchasing price is said to be US$ 205 m.
“Novell will acquire PlateSpin for $205 million using current cash.” according to a press release published today. The deal is expected to close during Novell’s second fiscal quarter.
Toronto-based Platespin specializes in workload management and offers a portfolio of server virtualization, management disaster recovery solutions, including hardware.
will be integrated into Novell's Systems and Resource Management business unit. Platespin founder and CEO Stephen Pollack will become Vice President of this unit.
Platespin will be keeping its Canadian offices. The enterprise will continue to promote the development of its products after the take-over. Customers with existing products will continue to receive support. The product roadmap will include joint offerings, however, no product integration is envisaged at the present time.
