OpenSource World Conference & Expo Announced
IDG World Expo announced the launch of OpenSource World Conference & Expo, an event that will include features of LinuxWorld with an emphasis on open source technology.
Scheduled for August 10-13, 2009, at San Francisco's Moscone Center, OpenSource World will include a full conference program and an exhibit floor featuring Linux and open source companies. The event will be co-located with IDG's Next Generation Data Center (NGDC) event, which will offer separate conference tracks but share the expo floor. Whereas LinuxWorld included a three-day expo hall, the new OpenSource World expo will be reduced to two days.
Prior to the new event announcement, LinuxWorld organizers announced a move to Moscone West, a smaller conference hall.
O'Reilly's OSCON event has moved to take place in San Jose three weeks prior to OpenSource World, making the two events head-to-head competitors.
