Raspberry Pi Availability Improved
Ramped up Raspberry Pi production should now meet demand.
Demand for the new Raspberry Pi devices has been such that, until now, orders have been limited to one per customer. However, according to a recent announcement, 4,000 Raspberry Pi units are being made every day, and you can now buy as many Raspberry Pis as you want.
The Raspberry Pi is a credit-card sized computer that plugs into your TV and a keyboard. The product website calls it “a capable little PC which can be used for many of the things that your desktop PC does, like spreadsheets, word-processing and games.” It also plays high-definition video. Model A (US$ 25) has been redesigned to have 256MB RAM, one USB port and no Ethernet. Model B (US$ 35) has 256MB RAM, two USB ports and an Ethernet port.
Orders can be placed through RS Components. According to Element14’s website, the company is now taking volume orders for Raspberry Pi Model B, with an expected delivery time of five weeks. Those wishing to purchase 10 or more Raspberry Pi units should email for more information.
