BBC iPlayer Desktop for Linux and Mac

Dec 19, 2008

BBC News announced the release of iPlayer for Mac and Linux. The BBC worked with Adobe to develop the new version, BBC iPlayer Desktop.

According to BBC News, "The new version of the iPlayer has been written with Adobe's AIR technology which aims to make it possible to create applications that can be downloaded to your computer, rather than just embedded in browser web pages as is possible with the widely used Flash software."

The Beta version was released on December 18, with an official release expected in February 2009. More information is available on the BBC News site.
