The Eclipse Foundation has hit its planned date of June 24 of releasing Galileo, its newest annual collection of development platform projects.
Galileo encompasses the open source foundation's biggest release so far, with 33 projects and over 23 million lines of code. More than 380 developers from 44 organizations have contributed, according to the foundation.
Galileo is to reflect important new trends: the increasing deployment of Eclipse among professional developers is one of them. A PHP toolkit supporting PHP 5.3 and a memory analyzer tool also target this user group. And there is now support for Solaris and MAC OS X.
The Eclipse 2009 Galileo webpage has more details, along with downloads of all the new projects. To increase the global community, the Eclipse Foundation provides registration for Galileo in Action, a free virtual conference.
