Trolltech has just announced the first Qt 4.4 Beta on its website and made a download available. Among other features, the new version integrates Qt WebKit and multimedia framework that is based on Phonon.
While WebKit integration is a more interesting to developers who would like to program a simple browser for Windows, KDE developers are eagerly anticipating the Phonon features. Details on all the changes are available from the Qt homepage.
Trolltech plans to publish the first release candidate in late April or early May with a final version to follow in late May. The Release date of Qt 4.4. is mainly of interest to KDE 4.1, which is due for release in late July, as Qt 4.4 has a number of features that KDE 4.1 urgently requires.
