New in Bash 5.3
Conclusion
Bash 5.3 comes with several important new features that mainly target developers and power users. The switch to the C23 standard is probably the most important step from a developer's point of view. Other new features are related to the topic of autocompletion.
You can read the full release notes online [2]. For me, the new command substitution is the most interesting new feature. I will probably use command substitution to speed up some scripts and pare down the size of others. Users of enterprise distros such as SLES or RHEL might have to wait a while before Bash 5.3 is available in the default configuration.
