Linux-Gamers.net Release Live DVD Version 0.9.4
The developers from Linux-gamers.net launched a new version of their Linux games-focused live distribution.
New arrivals included action games Teeworlds 0.4.3, Openarena 0.8.0 and World of Padman 1.2. Also released was a rudimentary installation assistant that for the first time, will permanently anchor the contents of the DVD to the mother board. Kernel and drivers have been revamped and bugs fixed. And for those who want a cool dvd cover, there’s one available to print.
At present, the so-called ‘’boot ‘n play’’ disc is available for download on the Bitorrent network only, with developers still searching for mirror servers. Anyone who feels Bitorrent is too cumbersome, or the 4 GByte ISO file simply too big, can take advantage of a new service being offered at shipit.linux-gamers.ne. There they’ll find volunteers who in their spare time will burn the distribution onto DVD and ship it.
The distribution Linux-gamers.net was originally created by the operators of the website of the same name. The aim was to introduce Linux games to the public at trade fairs and conferences, in an uncomplicated way. Here it was enough to start the pc from the DVD. The games didn’t have to be installed and did not land on the mother board. A list of all available games is on the projects action game dominated homepage, where a mastering environment gives users the opportunity to master their very own version of the live DVD.
