Oracle Proposal: Transfer Hudson Project to Eclipse Foundation
Oracle announces it has submitted a proposal to the Eclipse Foundation to create a Hudson project in Eclipse and contribute the Hudson core code to that project.
According to press release, the proposal to transfer the Hudson Project, trademark and domain name to the Eclipse Foundation further demonstrates Oracle's commitment to the developer and open source communities.
Under the terms of this new proposal, Oracle will be the project lead with Sonatype, Tasktop, and VMware listed as the initial contributors; however, Oracle states it will solicit feedback from the Hudson community to make sure its opinions are heard before any proposal is finalized.
Hudson is an open source “continuous integration” (CI) server that increases productivity by coordinating and monitoring executions of repeated jobs.
"Oracle has always been committed to improving the structure, predictability, openness and stability of the Hudson project,” said Ted Farrell, chief architect and senior vice president, Tools and Middleware, Oracle. “After careful review of the options and talking with many of our customers and partners, we believe that contributing Hudson to the Eclipse Foundation is the best way to ensure its growth and continued success.”
