Samsung Joins Linux Foundation
The Linux Foundation welcomes Samsung Electronics as a Platinum member.
According to the announcement, Samsung’s investments in Android and other Linux-based operating systems and tools are contributing to its success as the world’s largest device maker. Samsung Electronics uses Linux throughout its company, across product lines, divisions, and geographies. By using Linux, the company can innovate on device design and functionality, offering a large variety of electronics products at varying price points.
By joining the Linux Foundation, Samsung Electronics is reiterating its commitment to Linux and investing its resources in a platform it believes will help sustain its global leadership position. According to the announcement, Samsung will work with The Linux Foundation on streamlining its participation with the kernel community and adopting open source best practices.
“The company’s commitment to Linux and investment in its development firmly plants it in a position to continue its achievements in the mobile, embedded and consumer electronics markets.
