Ulteo Open Virtual Desktop v3 Now Available
Ulteo announced version 3 of Open Virtual Desktop (OVD), an open solution designed to deliver Linux and Windows applications securely to any device through a web browser or a dedicated Ulteo software client.
According to Gaël Duval, CTO and co-founder of Ulteo, 18 months of R&D effort went into building v3. Duval says, “We took into account the most important feedback we have received from the 2.5 and put it into the v3. This means, for instance, the ability to publish Linux and/or Windows applications (with RDS/TS), in Desktop or Portal mode, to map local drives, to print, to integrate with portals, to use Ulteo with iPad and Android devices, to install native Linux or Windows client for seamless integration experience on the end user desktop, and to use Ulteo in both LAN and WAN (via a Ulteo Gateway).”
According to the website, customers can install and deploy an OVD Session Manager with one or more OVD Application Servers. After defining users and creating a “publication,” customers can access the applications using the following modes: Windows or Linux Desktop, Application Portal, or Application Publishing. Additionally, the new OVD v3 core architecture will allow new features to be added more rapidly and more easily.
You can get more information and download OVD at http://www.ulteo.com/home/.
