Happy Birthday, ADMIN Magazine!
ADMIN is celebrating its 15th anniversary with issue #90.
Huzzah, ADMIN magazine is celebrating a milestone anniversary… 15 years.
Back in 2010, ADMIN was dreamed up as a publication with a focus on system administration. Now, 15 years later, it's still going strong. In this era of all-digital publishing, that is a major accomplishment.
To give you some perspective, in the first issue of ADMIN, Ken Hess wrote a piece about OpenSolaris Zones. On that topic, Hess says, "that’s a funny, wonderful thing about technology – a 15-year-old article can still be relevant, or one that someone published a month ago can be outdated. Zones, jails, and containers, which are all implementations of the same concept, have found new relevance in contemporary IT shops."
Hess also mentions how "certain technology solutions haven’t evolved much" over the years, as the fundamental needs are still the same, especially with regard to security.
One of the reasons why ADMIN has continued against all odds is that those writing for the publication are practicing technology professionals, which makes a big difference to those in the field who need trustworthy reporting and tutorials.
Those responsible for ADMIN‘s success include Brian Osborn (Publisher and Linux New Media CEO), Joe Casad (Editor-in-Chief), Rita Sooby (Managing Editor), Lori White (Managing Editor), Dena Friesen (Layout and Cover Design), Ken Hess (Senior Editor), and Amber Ankerholz (News Editor).
Congratulations to ADMIN. Here's hoping for another 15 years.
